What Would Dad Say?

Father’s Day is on Sunday, and as I started thinking about dads and the roles they play in our lives, I’m struck by how often I still hear my friends and clients say “let me check with my dad” whenever they need to make a decision.

Fathers play a large role in shaping our habits and attitudes towards money, so much that “checking with dad” continues well into our adult lives.

What would dad say about the recent market volatility? I cannot remember a time when I’ve seen such a widespread disparity between what is happening in the economy and what is happening in the stock market.

While we don’t know what will happen, we do know that volatility is a natural part of investing. A diversified financial strategy based on your long-term goals can help minimize the stress of market dips during times of uncertainty.
